Cruel, Cruel Cruella

I decided to be Cruella de Vil for Halloween this year.  I love the black + white costume, with hints of red.  Plus, this look was easy to achieve.  I purchased the wig, gloves, boas and faux cigarette holder at a local party store.  The dress, shoes, tights and red lipstick I already owned.    Happy Halloween!

Zakim in Zebra

There may not be tons to do in the Navy Yard, but one benefit of working here has to be the unexpected views of city landmarks; including the Zakim Bridge (above).  Each turn of a corner offers a different view of Boston’s history.  I especially love the cobblestone streets + vibrant foliage, which served as an effortless setting for some quick photos this afternoon.  Thanks to my co-worker Christine for snapping these shots!

Fur Fixx

Last night, I attended the StyleFixx event at Boston Center for the Arts in the beautiful South End.  Tons of vendors were there from all over the city selling jewelry, accessories, clothing and even giving away food + drink samples.  I bought two new bracelets (see gold link bracelet above), had my eyebrows waxed, got a facial and sipped on (free) bubbly all evening.  Some of my girlfriends even got manicures.  All of this was included as part of a very low admission price.  I was also lucky to meet some fellow Boston Bloggers.  :)

After work and before heading over to the event, I traded by pumps for boots, and my blazer for my fur vest.  A very easy transition from work to play.

3.  I love to shop.  I especially love to shop + find great sales.  Here are a few of my recent finds at the LOFT.   This sweater -perfect for the colder weather- and these pants were 50% off, and the skirt was only $12!  What's not to love!

Go Girl

Today, I visited my alma mater for Homecoming Weekend.  While there, I was also privileged take part in some very interesting dialogue with other alumni, regarding Women in the Architecture, Construction + Engineering industry.  An influential pioneer + philanthropist, Beverly Willis, spoke on her career as an artist turned Architect, her experiences in a historically male-dominated industry, and the direction in which she sees Architecture moving in the future.  Overall, it was an inspiring day, plus I was able to spend time with my college roommates (and friends).  

I thought it appropriate to go for a business casual look for todays events, so I wore printed ankle length pants, a simple black shirt and neutral flats.  

Toe to Toe

I have been searching for black, pointy-toed flats for a few months now. When I found this gorgeous pair, I just couldn’t pass them up.  I’m in love with the gold toe + textured leather.  Besides, I snagged that last pair (in my size) in all of Nordstrom, so it was definitely meant to be!  Don’t you think? ;]

Atlantic City Chic

I spent Columbus Day weekend in Atlantic City for a mini college reunion. On Sunday night, we checked out the newest Casino on the Boardwalk, and I decided it was the perfect place to rock my new VC snake print skinnies.  I styled the pants with a basic black shirt, black pumps + gold accessories.  What do you think of this look?

My essential accessory right now has to be the bun donut.   This easy up-do adds a bold touch to any look: great for work or play, casual or formal!  The donut comes in a variety of sizes + colors, and can be found at your local beauty supply store for $5. 

Fall Favorites

Fall, my favorite season, is all about change.  The days are warm + the nights become cool, which makes Fall perfect time of year to update your look.  Here are a few pieces I purchased this summer that I can’t wait to style this season: black + white blouses, gold accessories, snake printed skinnies and leather trimmed jackets.  Stay tuned!
